Frida is a data privacy associate in the Strategic Transactions & Licensing group.
Frida Alim counsels clients on information privacy, cybersecurity, and innovative AI strategy, guiding high-growth technology companies and venture capital firms at the forefront of digital transformation. Her practice spans high-stakes advisory and regulatory matters for leaders in frontier AI model development, biometrics, fintech, enterprise software, autonomous vehicles, robotics, social networks, telecommunications, and entertainment technologies.
Frida advises clients on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the Colorado AI Act, the European Union AI Act, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (“BIPA”) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA), among other privacy, cybersecurity, marketing and consumer protection laws. Her practice includes advising on privacy, cybersecurity, and AI considerations in connection with venture capital financings, mergers, and IPOs.
Frida is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), holding the U.S. private-sector privacy certification granted by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), the global standard in privacy certification.
Previously, as an associate at Buckley LLP in Los Angeles, Frida advised top-tier banks, innovative fintechs, and financial services firms on mission-critical privacy, regulatory, and compliance matters.
Representative Matters:
- Advised clients on data ownership and licensing strategies in the context of web scraping, indexing, and dark web data collection, including developing comprehensive guidelines to address licensing restrictions and legal considerations under laws such as the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.
- As an early thought leader in connected vehicle privacy, spearheaded the design and implementation of comprehensive compliance programs for joint ventures; mapped complex data flows and negotiated high-stakes data sharing agreements with major automotive OEMs.
- Led various clients that collect biometric data through compliance with BIPA and related frameworks, including crafting biometric consent forms, reviewing UX design, negotiating complex biometric data agreements, and addressing emerging legal issues surrounding digital clones and rights of publicity in technology-driven use of likeness.
- Spearheaded in-depth privacy program reviews and drafted risk factor disclosures to ensure regulatory compliance and investor confidence in connection with IPOs.
- Architected compliance programs, consumer disclosures, and consent flows for biotech and genetic testing companies in connection with new direct-to-consumer genetic testing privacy laws.

- Represented Statsig, a leading experimentation platform for A/B testing, feature flagging, and real-time decisioning, in its $1.1B acquisition by OpenAI.
- Represented Incode in its acquisition of Authentic ID, an automated solution identity verification AI platform.
- Represented Ripple, the leading provider of digital asset infrastructure for financial institutions, in its $200 million agreement to acquire Rail, a stablecoin-powered payments platform.
- Represented Incode, an end-to-end omnichannel identity platform, in its acquisition of MetaMap, an identity verification platform.
- Represented Databricks, a Data and AI company, in its acquisition of Neon, a developer-first, serverless Postgres database company.
- Represented Anduril in connection with the definitive agreement to acquire Klas, a leader in edge computing and tactical communications.
- Represented Ripple in its agreement to acquire prime broker Hidden Road for $1.25B.
- Represented Corelight, Inc., an open network detection and response company, in its $150 million Series E financing led by Accel.
- Represented dataplor, Inc., a provider of global location intelligence, in its $10.6 million Series A financing led by Spark Capital.
- Represented Habu, Inc., a data clean room software provider, in its $200 million acquisition by LiveRamp, Inc.
- Represented BehavioSec, Inc., an advanced behavioral biometrics technology provider, in its acquisition by RELX.
- Represented Kustomer, a messaging software company, in its $1 billion acquisition by Meta Platforms, Inc.
- Represented Newfront Insurance Services, a technology-enabled brokerage, in its agreement to combine with ABD Insurance and Financial Services, representing a combined valuation of $1.35 billion.
