Gunderson Dettmer Represents Stainless in Acquisition by Anthropic
Gunderson Dettmer represented Stainless in its acquisition by Anthropic. Stainless is a New York-based startup that automates the creation and maintenance of software development kits (SDKs), the libraries developers use to interact with APIs.
By bringing the Stainless and Anthropic teams together, the acquisition will help expand how developers and agents connect with external systems and enable the Claude platform to continue to push the frontier of developer experience and agent capabilities.
“I started Stainless because SDKs deserve as much care as the APIs they wrap,” said Alex Rattray, Founder and CEO of Stainless, in a TechCrunch article profiling the acquisition. “Anthropic was one of the first teams to bet on this with us. We have been watching what developers have built on Claude over the last few years, which made bringing our teams together an easy decision. The team gets to keep doing the work we love, on the platform where it matters most.”
The Gunderson deal team was led by corporate partner Jared Grauer and included associates Chase Beckstead, Marissa Boykin, Esalyna Liang, and Derek Shao, M&A of counsel Matt Martinez, strategic transactions and licensing partner Aaron Fiske and associates Killian McDonald, Greg Logan, and James Yang, data privacy partner Anna Westfelt and associate Frida Alim, executive compensation partner Michael Richman and associates Erik Ward and Sofia Siegel, tax partner Mark Foster and associate Tina Xu, and employment and labor associates Jordan Simon and Maggie Vogel.
