Gunderson Dettmer Represents Ona in Acquisition by OpenAI
Gunderson Dettmer represented Ona in its acquisition by OpenAI. The acquisition is Gunderson’s second in the first half of this year representing a company in its sale to OpenAI, following Astral’s acquisition.
Ona provides enterprise customers a platform allowing software agents to work securely in a cloud environment after the developer who started the task logs off. Following the closing, its customer‑controlled execution model will allow OpenAI’s Codex agents to run inside a customer’s own cloud environment, under that customer’s existing security and governance controls, helping OpenAI better serve regulated and security‑conscious organizations.
The Gunderson deal team was led by corporate partner Trevor Knapp and M&A partners Andrew Luh and David Moore and included M&A and corporate associates Sharon Leringato, Emma Anderson and Alyssa Tamboura, strategic transactions and licensing partner Katie Gardner and associates Christina Chen, David Koenig, Srinithi Narayanan, and Erica Davis, data privacy partner Anna Westfelt and associates Carrie Brown and Frida Alim, tax partner Mark Foster and associate Morgan Otway, executive compensation partner Michael Richman and associate Erik Ward, employment and labor partner Max Perlman and of counsel Jeff Salomon, and regulatory partner Gregory Kinzelman.
