Alex is an associate in the Strategic Transactions and Licensing group.
Alex counsels emerging growth and startup companies on IP and commercial matters from formation to exit in all aspects of their businesses, including formation and day-to-day operations to financings and M&A activities.
He specializes in strategic partnerships, product counseling, transactional IP issues relating to client M&A and financing activities, data and privacy strategy, and the licensing, protection, and commercialization of IP and technology assets. Alex has significant experience leading negotiations on a broad spectrum of licensing and commercial agreements, and regularly advises clients in complex strategic collaboration and partnership deals, licensing arrangements, and mergers and acquisitions opposite both emerging growth companies and leading companies in various sectors, including Adobe, Etsy, Google (Alphabet), Hulu, Logitech, Meta, Micron, Morgan Stanley, Nike, Oracle, PepsiCo, Rocket Money, Spotify, State Street, Stripe, United Healthcare, Verizon, Walmart, Zendesk and Zillow.
The companies Alex represents operate in a variety of industries, including artificial intelligence, consumer products, e-commerce, fintech, health tech, media, robotics, and software/SaaS. He has also represented several leading venture capital firms in connection with numerous portfolio M&A transactions and financings.
Alex is an IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional, the global standard certification for privacy law and compliance. Prior to joining Gunderson Dettmer, he practiced commercial litigation at a major international law firm.
