Carrie is a data privacy associate in the Strategic Transactions and Licensing group.
Carrie advises venture capital funds and company clients on domestic and international privacy, cybersecurity, and related compliance matters. Her practice spans a wide variety of industries, such as AI and machine learning, software, retail and consumer products, financial services, healthcare, life sciences, media and entertainment, mobile and social media services, EdTech, AdTech, FinTech, and non-profits.
Carrie counsels clients on an array of global privacy matters, including corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, financings, licensing, strategic agreements, product counseling, commercial contracting, and general privacy compliance. Carrie advises on global privacy laws including U.S. state comprehensive privacy laws, UK and EU GDPR, COPPA and state-specific children’s privacy laws, HIPAA, genetic and biometric privacy laws, data broker laws, FERPA, electronic surveillance and wiretapping compliance, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, the FTC Act, and other sector-specific privacy laws. Her practice focuses on providing forward-looking, practical solutions designed to balance business needs with the ever-growing complexity of privacy regulations worldwide.
Carrie is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), holding the U.S. private-sector privacy certification granted by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), the global standard in privacy certification. The CIPP/US certification demonstrates strong foundation in U.S. private-sector privacy laws and regulations and understanding of the legal requirements for the responsible transfer of sensitive personal data to/from the U.S. and other jurisdictions.
