Paul Sullivan

Paul is of counsel in Gunderson Dettmer’s Silicon Valley office. For over a decade, he has advised emerging growth companies on corporate governance and transactional matters, including formations, venture capital financings, equity compensation matters, secondary sale transactions, public offerings,  M&A transactions, and commercial transactions. In addition, Paul represents leading venture capital funds in investor-side financings and secondary sale transactions.

Paul builds long-term relationships with founders, bringing close attention to their needs and business details to every engagement.  He has worked with companies across many sectors and focus areas, including AI, FinTech, SaaS, data analytics, business and productivity tools and consumer apps. He has a particular interest in working with startups that address civic and societal needs, including government and defense technology, transportation, religion, mental health and education. He brings learnings and best practices from his experience to help clients gain efficiencies and anticipate transaction problems and opportunities.

Paul also brings Gunderson’s industry-leading experience representing high-growth companies in their formations, financings, IPOs and M&A transactions to every engagement, including the firm’s proprietary knowledge and tools.

Paul’s representative past and current clients include: Addepar, Anduril, Blend Labs, BrightEdge, ChargePoint, Hallow, Kin Insurance, Learneo, Linear Orbit, Palantir, Panacea Financial and numerous other emerging companies.

Paul is originally from the Midwest and lives in the Bay Area with his wife, two sons and a miniature goldendoodle. Prior to attending law school, Paul was a web programmer and designer.

Paul is a graduate of Columbia Law School, where he was executive editor at Columbia Science & Technology Law Review. He is also a graduate of Harvard University.
