Gunderson Dettmer represented client Spark Capital in the formation of its early-stage and venture-growth funds, Spark Capital VIII and Spark Growth V totaling $2.3 billion in aggregate commitments. In the announcement of the new funds, Spark Capital said, “While our core themes evolve, we remain committed to working in much the same way that has worked well for almost two decades. We do venture only and remain a close-knit team of dedicated investors who make a relatively small number of new investments each year. We prefer to roll our sleeves up with entrepreneurs rather than outsource this partnership to a support team.”
