Cisco Announces Intent to Acquire Two Gunderson Dettmer Clients, Kenna Security and Socio Labs, in the Same Week

Gunderson Dettmer represented clients Kenna Security, a cybersecurity company, and Socio Labs, a modern event technology platform, in their acquisitions by Cisco.

In the announcement of the Kenna transaction, CEO of Kenna Karim Toubba said, “Now is our opportunity to change the industry: once the acquisition is complete, we will be one step closer to delivering Kenna’s pioneering Risk-Based Vulnerability Management (RBVM) platform to the more than 7,000 customers using Cisco SecureX today. This single action exponentially increases the impact Kenna’s technology will have on the way the world secures networks, endpoints and infrastructures.”

In the announcement of the Socio transaction, Cisco explained in a statement “As part of Cisco Webex’s vision to deliver inclusive, engaging and intelligent meeting and event experiences, the acquisition of Socio Labs complements Cisco’s recent acquisition of Slido, an industry-leading audience engagement tool, which together will create a comprehensive, cost-effective and easy-to-use event management solution…”

The Gunderson deal team representing Kenna was led by M&A partner John Olson and corporate partner Dan O’Connor,  with corporate associates Ibrahim Elshamy, Amy Luong and Adam Spaudling. The team also included partners Colin Chapman, Mark Foster and Michael Richman, of counsel Anna Westfelt, and associates Emily Lieberman, Cecilia Jeong, Sunny Kim, Ashley Nakamura, Anna He and Sofia Rattes.

The Gunderson deal team representing Socio Labs was led by corporate partner Michael Irvine and M&A associate Will Haynes and included of counsel Anna Westfelt, and associates Laurel Fedder, Kelly Trimble, Cecilia Jeong, Peter Jung, Sunny Kim, Harrison Hawkes, James Gately, Alex Lee and Chase Beckstead.
