Gunderson Dettmer represented clients Altimeter and D1 Capital as they co-led the $1.3 billion Series D financing of Lacework, a unified cloud security platform. Gunderson clients Tiger Global, Coatue, and Dragoneer also participated in the round. The latest financing is the largest funding round in the security industry and values the company at $8.3 billion. The new capital will enable Lacework to invest in more product innovation and pursue strategic acquisitions.

In the announcement of the transaction, Lacework said, “Our growth over the last 36 months reflects the pain many businesses endure as they attempt to navigate the cloud using security products that simply aren’t designed for it. This investment, and the partnership of these long-term investors, will help us realize Lacework’s promise of becoming the most trusted cloud security platform.”

The Gunderson deal teams were led by partners Greg Volkmar, Ryan Purcell, Steve Baglio, Aaron Rubin, and Michael Allers and associates Hilary Adams, Jeffrey Stricker, Nicholas Charleton, Madeleine Vella, and Alexandra Guttman.
