Boldstart Ventures Announces $250M Fund VII
Gunderson Dettmer represented client Boldstart Ventures in the formation of Boldstart Ventures VII, a $250 million fund. Boldstart Ventures is a venture capital firm specializing in inception-stage investments with a focus on AI infrastructure and application layer startups, cyber and crypto.
The new AI-focused fund will allow Boldstart to continue its strategy of investing in promising founders at the very beginning of company development, often before a product exists, and to move quickly in supporting a small group of high-potential entrepreneurs each year. The firm’s track record includes early investments in companies such as Snyk, BigID, Protect AI (acquired by Palo Alto Networks) and Superhuman (acquired by Grammarly).
In the announcement of the fund, Boldstart Ventures founder and general partner Ed Sim said, “With our fund size, we only have to be there as partners for a small select group, maybe 10 to 12 new founding teams per year between three partners. For people who want to work with us and we want to work with them, we can move very fast.”
The Gunderson deal team was led by Tyler Kirtley and included Sujata Awasthi, Blake Rowe and Bria Guitano.
