Gunderson Dettmer Announces Addition of Executive Compensation Partner: James Hauser

Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian, LLP, the global leader in venture capital and emerging companies law, announced today that James L. Hauser, an expert in Executive Compensation and related matters, has joined the firm as partner. Jim will be based in the Boston office and joins Gunderson Dettmer from the Boston office of a mid-size international firm.

Jim’s experience includes advising clients on executive employment, retention, and change in control agreements, as well as the tax issues related to golden parachute rules, deferred compensation rules, equity compensation plans and the deductibility of compensation. He has also advised private equity and venture investors on executive compensation agreements and compensation plans for portfolio companies. Jim also has extensive experience working on ERISA issues. Jim’s work with start-ups includes advising them on equity compensation and employment matters as well as the design and administration of stock option and other equity incentive plans. Jim has also represented C-level executives and executive management teams on executive compensation agreements and issues when joining or leaving their employers or during mergers and acquisitions. He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts.
