Gunderson Dettmer represented clients Altimeter Capital, Coatue, and Tiger Global as investors in the $278 million Series F financing of Cockroach Labs, a cloud-based SQL database platform. The company’s database is designed to build global, scalable cloud services that can survive disasters. The new capital will be used to support Cockroach Lab’s investment in the development of its cloud database, continued customer growth, and market expansion.

In the announcement of the transaction, co-founder and CEO of Cockroach Labs Spencer Kimball said, “The future of application development is changing. Today’s users demand an always-on and near-instantaneous experience, no matter where they are on the planet. Meeting those expectations requires a more resilient, scalable, geographically distributed data platform.”

The Gunderson deal teams were led by Greg Volkmar and Steve Baglio and included Mark Oblad, Hilary Adams, and Jae Hyung Ryu.
