Gina Marek named Northern California head of Gunderson Dettmer’s Licensing, Strategic Partnering & Commercial Transactions Group

Gina Marek, a partner in the firm’s Silicon Valley office, has been named the Northern California head of the Licensing, Strategic Partnering & Commercial Transactions practice group.

Ms. Marek specializes in representing technology and life sciences companies in corporate partnering, strategic alliances, technology protection, licensing and commercialization of intellectual property and technology assets, and advising venture capitalists and companies on intellectual property and technology aspects of venture capital financings and merger and acquisition activities.

“I’m pleased to announce Gina’s new leadership role in the firm.  Gina’s practice reflects the combination of technical expertise and business judgment that has long been the hallmark of our licensing and commercial transactions practice,” said Ivan Gaviria, Northern California office leader, “Gina started her career here as a summer associate in 2008 and steadily grew in her contributions to the practice and the firm over the last decade. This role puts into practice the leadership she has shown over the years.”

Ms. Marek received her J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles and her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley. She was named among Women Leaders in Tech Law by The Recorder and joined the partnership in 2017.
