Gunderson Dettmer represented client Databand.ai, a data observability platform, in its acquisition by IT services and consulting company IBM to further strengthen IBM's software portfolio across data, artificial intelligence and automation. Databand.ai helps organizations fix issues with their data, including errors and pipeline failures and poor quality. The acquisition of Databand.ai enables IBM to expand its capabilities for broader integrations.

In the announcement of the acquisition, General Manager for Data and AI of IBM Daniel Hernandez said, "Our clients are data-driven enterprises who rely on high-quality, trustworthy data to power their mission-critical processes. When they don't have access to the data they need in any given moment, their business can grind to a halt. With the addition of Databand.ai, IBM offers the most comprehensive set of observability capabilities for IT across applications, data and machine learning, and is continuing to provide our clients and partners with the technology they need to deliver trustworthy data and AI at scale."

The Gunderson Dettmer deal team was led by corporate partner Rich Hesp and included corporate associate Vanessa Smith, Tax/Fund partner Jaime Narayan, and executive compensation partner Jim Hauser and associate Chris Shin.
