December 1, 2022Client News

Gunderson Dettmer represented client Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, in the announcement of its $1.48 billion Series E financing led by Valor Equity Partners. Anduril builds technology for military agencies and border surveillance. The company will use the new financing for research and development to bring, new, cutting-edge defense capabilities to market and scale its business lines with the US Department of Defense, US allies, and partners.

In the announcement of the transaction, Co-founder and CEO of Anduril Brian Schimpf said, “Anduril is a technology partner, not an equipment provider. Security threats are evolving faster than the DOD can keep pace. In order to really outmaneuver emerging threats we need to move past just efficiencies and create clear step changes in capability, quickly. Anduril has proven that that our model — recruiting talented engineers, building quickly and efficiently using venture dollars, and selling next-generation technology off the shelf to the government — works. And that with the right technology and incentives the government can be a nimble customer.”

The Gunderson Dettmer deal team was led by Lou Soto and included Nick Harley, Adam Lin, Jesse Birbach, Zahrah Fadel, Joe McGinley, Jake Winton and Matthew Tseng.
