Lara Alice Pender

Lara started her career in London, where she advised U.S. private equity funds on their acquisitions and divestitures of European assets. Since moving to the United States, Lara has split her time between the Bay Area and the Midwest. She often works across jurisdictional borders, representing foreign funds investing in U.S. businesses, U.S. funds investing in foreign businesses, and foreign businesses seeking U.S. funding. She also has deep experience in the green-energy space and frequently represents investors in climate-friendly businesses.

Lara teaches a course on late-stage venture capital issues at the University of Michigan Law School. She also serves on the advisory board of the University’s Accelerate Blue Fund, an evergreen early stage fund that invests in technology developed at the University of Michigan.

Lara is recognized by Legal 500 in both the Venture Capital & Emerging Companies and the Private Equity Buyouts categories, where she is referred to as “very efficient” and “responsive” and commended for “leveraging associates while providing strategic guidance."
