Julie C. Mahoney
Julie is of counsel in the Strategic Transactions & Licensing group.
Julie specializes in corporate partnering, strategic alliances, technology protection, and the licensing and commercialization of intellectual property and technology assets. She focuses on transactional IP issues in life sciences, green technology, and other capital‑intensive industries, including university tech‑transfer arrangements, complex development and collaboration agreements, and IP‑driven aspects of her clients’ financing and M&A activities.
Julie’s practice has led her to develop significant experience with biotechnology and other long‑horizon development programs, where IP ownership, improvement rights, regulatory milestones, and commercialization pathways must be aligned from the outset. She regularly advises on strategic transactions for growth‑stage and public companies, and has worked with clients across sectors such as therapeutics, proteomics, diagnostics, commercial spaceflight and satellite technology, and data‑driven infrastructure.
In addition to her work in life sciences and other capital‑intensive industries, Julie counsels software, infrastructure, and AI‑focused companies on strategic technology transactions, including complex customer and vendor agreements, cloud and compute arrangements, and commercialization of AI‑enabled products and services. Prior to joining Gunderson Dettmer, Julie was an associate at Dorsey & Whitney focusing on trademark prosecution and enforcement matters.
