Westlake Village BioPartners Raises $450M New Fund for Life Sciences Companies

Gunderson Dettmer represented client Westlake Village BioPartners in the formation of its $450 million new fund. Westlake is a Los Angeles-based venture capital firm focused on helping build life sciences companies with the potential to bring transformative therapies to patients. The new fund will go towards investing in early-stage, next-generation biotechnology companies in the Los Angeles region and beyond.

In addition, Westlake also announced Dr. David Allison and Dr. Mira Chaurushiya as managing directors of the new fund along with Founding Managing Director Dr. Beth Seidenberg. Dr. Seidenberg said, “Our goal is to build a venture capital firm for the long term. Adding Mira and David to our leadership team allows us to leverage their deep scientific, business, and investing expertise across our entire portfolio, while also building Westlake’s next generation of leaders.”

The Gunderson deal team was co-led by Steve Franklin and Jonathan Goodwin and included Zeynep Tekin and Alexandra Eagan.
