Gunderson Dettmer represented client TuSimple, a global self-driving technology company, in its business collaboration with Navistar. The two entities have entered into a strategic partnership to co-develop SAE Level 4 self-driving trucks targeted for production by 2024. The strategic partnership is the result of a successful technical relationship between the companies for more than two years. In addition, Navistar has taken a minority stake in TuSimple.

In the announcement of the transaction President of TuSimple Cheng Lu said, “You don’t need to over-engineer this. Trucking is always about taking freight from point to point on predefined routes and this is where we can add value by addressing pain points in the industry.”
