April 12, 2023Client News

Gunderson Dettmer represented client Mercury in leading the $8 million Seed financing of Brassica Technologies, an investment infrastructure for private securities and digital assets. Other investors in the round include Valor Equity Partners, Long Journey Ventures and Alpha Asset Management.

Brassica produces transfer services between traditional banks and those relying on newer innovations such as Web3. The new capital will be used to hire a services operation team and to scale the company’s product, engineering, business development and customer success teams.

In the announcement of the transaction, Brassica co-founder Youngro Lee said, “I always respected Mercury and Blair because of what he meant to the Houston [startup] ecosystem. After Brassica was ready and I built up my own network, I started talking to Mercury again, and I realized this is a great partner. Even when I was not so successful at NextSeed, Blair always treated me with respect.”

The Gunderson Dettmer deal team was led by Wes Watts and included Luke Thomas and Emma Anderson.
