Cockroach Labs Raises $160M Series E Financing

Gunderson Dettmer represented client Cockroach Labs, an open-source database platform, in its $160 million Series E financing round led by Altimeter Capital Management.

In the announcement of the transaction, co-founder and CEO of Cockroach Labs Spencer Kimball said, “The thing that we’re most focused on in terms of action is really building the culture of the company appropriately and that’s something we’ve been doing for all six years we’ve been around. To the extent that you have an inclusive environment where people actually really view the value of respect, that helps with diversity.”

The Gunderson deal team was led by Adam Reuben and included Wenli Cai, Laura Chao and Valerie Wood.
