Gunderson Dettmer Commemorates 2026 Hispanic Heritage Month

Gunderson Dettmer is proud to commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, 2026. This year—and each year—we celebrate the vibrant contributions of Hispanic and Latinx communities through resources and events that honor their rich histories, cultures, and ongoing impact.

The 2026 theme, "Unidos, Somos Más" ("Together, We Are More"), reflects the spirit behind our Unidos Affinity Group: recognizing that our differences enrich us and that we are stronger when we learn from, support, and celebrate one another. Hispanic and Latinx communities encompass a wide range of cultures, traditions, experiences, and perspectives, each contributing to a rich and enduring legacy. Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, we honor the people, stories, and contributions that continue to enrich our firm, our communities, and the world around us.

Reflection

“As a first-generation Cuban American on my father’s side, and the daughter of a mother who moved from Puerto Rico to New York as a teenager in search of greater opportunities, Hispanic Heritage Month is deeply personal to me. My family’s values are born from the sacrifices of the generations before us.

Whether we were gathered at Abuela’s house, Titi’s or traveled to another state just to be together, it has always been centered around family and food (our love language) often followed by salsa music, laughter, and a house full of family. We were raised to put family first, respect our parents and elders, work hard, pursue an education, and have the hustle and determination to become responsible, independent adults.

Hispanic Heritage Month is a celebration of our history and an opportunity to share where we come from, honor our parents and ancestors, celebrate and uplift one another, and pass those traditions and values on to the next generation. I am incredibly proud of the family that shaped me and the culture that continues to connect us, and I carry it forward with pride, gratitude, love, and, of course, a little spice—because after all, we are Latinos!” -- Mercedes Farinas, Unidos Affinity Group Convener
