Gunderson Dettmer represented client Nightfall AI, a cloud data protection platform, in the announcement of its $40 million Series B financing led by WestBridge Capital. The platform uses machine learning to identify, classify, and protect business-critical data across any app. The new capital will be used for company expansion, scaling the platform, and increasing its partner ecosystem.

In the announcement of the transaction, CEO and co-founder of Nightfall AI Isaac Madan said, “This breach [co-founder Rohan Sathe’s personal experience with a data breach] made it clear that attackers will eventually find ways into private applications, so it’s crucial to ensure strong data security hygiene to minimize risk once a bad actor gets in. Digital transformation and the shift to a hybrid workplace has eroded the traditional corporate perimeter as it’s no longer guaranteed that employees are on managed devices and networks. This has led to the proliferation of cloud applications that house data that is completely opaque to security teams and increases the attack surface area.”

The Gunderson Dettmer deal team was led by Brian Patterson and included Paul Sullivan and Zahrah Fadel.
