Gunderson Dettmer represented client Chatdesk, a customer support messaging platform, in its $7 million Series A financing led by Cultivation Capital. In addition to Cultivation Capital, Harlem Capital, Serena Ventures, Menlo Ventures, Stormbreaker Ventures, and Fika Ventures also participated in the round. Chatdesk helps companies supercharge their customer support by utilizing a machine learning system. The new capital will enable Chatdesk to scale its teams and focus on increasing job creation.

In the announcement of the transaction, the company said that leading up to the fundraise, Chatdesk saw revenue growth of 300% year-over-year driven by a sharp increase in the volume of customer service tickets for e-commerce brands. As the COVID-19 pandemic increased both the need for customer support and demand for remote work, Chatdesk has accumulated a waitlist of 5,000+ people that are excited to become customer support Superfans for the brands on the platform.

The Gunderson deal team was led by Randall Clark and included Blessing Havana, Tonna Onyendu, Ian Jong, and Diana Aguilar. Katie Gardner and Evelina Yarmit advised on intellectual property-related matters and Jace Clegg advised on tax-related matters.
