Gunderson Dettmer represented client Archetype AI, a physical AI company, in its $13 million Seed financing led by Venrock. As the creator of Newton, a first-of-its-kind foundation model that understands the physical world, Archetype AI is pioneering a new category of AI that fuses real-time multimodal temporal data and natural language, so customers can ask open-ended questions about the real world around them.

In the announcement of the transaction, Archetype AI CEO and co-founder Ivan Poupyrev said, "The biggest problems in the world are physical, not digital. We believe the power of AI can and should do more for us than incremental productivity gains. Our goal is to encode the entire physical world so we can derive meaning from the signals all around us and create new solutions to problems that we previously couldn’t understand."
