Hozefa is a partner in Gunderson’s corporate and securities group and focuses on representing startups and emerging growth companies throughout their lifecycles – everything from their formation and venture financings to their eventual exit. As they scale, Hozefa’s clients benefit from his extensive experience in corporate governance, securities law compliance, M&A transactions, tender offers and other matters. Hozefa also represents VCs and other investors in connection with their investments, including financings, tender offers and exits.

Hozefa’s company clients span a variety of industries – fintech to enterprise software to media to consumer goods and others – and a variety of stages of growth – from an idea to an exit. Hozefa’s background as a software engineer, entrepreneur and law-firm client means his advice is practical and actionable. Hozefa helps venture-backed startups efficiently navigate the challenges they face as they grow.

Hozefa’s recent notable transactions include the sale of Refinery 29 to Vice, the sale of Hotel Tonight to Airbnb, the sale of Shapeways to Galileo Acquisition Corp. and the sale of Shopkeep to Lightspeed POS.

In addition to his client work, Hozefa launched and serves on the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee where his goal is to make sure the firm is the top choice for attorneys interested in working with startups and VCs. Hozefa also serves on the firm’s Technology Committee where he seeks to implement technology and best practices to increase efficiency and improve client service.
