Brazil-Based Minter Closes Series A
Gunderson Dettmer represented Minter, a Brazil-based startup that installs mobile data centers in power plants, in its Series A financing led by Itaú Ventures with participation from Grupo Leste and Legend Capital.
Minter installs mobile data centers, container structures with up to 200 machines capable of processing digital data, at renewable energy generation points so that surplus energy is not wasted, reducing consumption and transmission costs. With this funding round, the company plans to purchase additional machines and serve more clients, reaching 40 megawatts by the end of the year and 500 megawatts in 2029.
“The Itaú seal helps encourage energy generators to feel comfortable opening their minds to the fact that a flexible data center within the parks can be a portfolio strategy,” said Stefano Sergole, CEO and founder of Minter, in a Pipeline article profiling the transaction. “Minter makes it possible to monetize what will be lost in curtailment and solve the current pain point of several power generators.”
The Gunderson deal team was led by Christel Moreno and included Rosie Stein, Mark Foster, Claudia Renert, Eduarda Tavares, and Christina Chen.
