David's representation of technology and life sciences companies spans the corporate life-cycle, including pre-incorporation counseling, general corporate representation, venture capital financings, public offerings, SEC reporting, corporate governance, spin-offs and mergers and acquisitions. He also works with venture capital funds investing in companies and selling their stakes in companies. David provides practical, business-oriented advice for navigating the complex mix of legal and business opportunities and challenges facing high-growth companies.
In addition to representing clients, David serves as the managing partner for the firm’s operations. Before helping found Gunderson Dettmer, David was an attorney in the Palo Alto office of Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison. Prior to practicing law, he was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company in its New York and Sydney offices. David is admitted to practice in California.
