David serves as Gunderson Dettmer’s Managing Partner and a member of the firm’s Management Committee. Since taking on this role in 2019, David and the Management Committee have guided Gunderson Dettmer through several years of tremendous change in both the global innovation economy and the legal industry.
David brings a practical business sense and a deep understanding of markets to his leadership role and representation of clients. He has represented technology and life sciences companies at every stage of business growth, including general corporate representation, corporate governance, venture capital financings, public offerings, SEC compliance, and mergers and acquisitions. He has also worked with venture capital funds investing in companies and selling their stakes in companies.
Before helping found Gunderson Dettmer in 1995, David was an attorney in the Palo Alto office of Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison. Prior to practicing law, he was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company in its New York and Sydney offices.
