Olga Zolotnik
Olga is a tax and venture fund partner.
Olga is a partner in Gunderson Dettmer’s Los Angeles office, where she advises venture capital funds on all stages of formation, including preparing offering materials, negotiating with investors, structuring and negotiating general partner economics, and complying with securities laws and other regulations. Olga also advises venture capital fund managers on general business matters, helping venture firms add new team members, grant carry, manage team member separations, and answer day-to-day questions about permissible fund investments, operations and investor relations.
Olga brings Gunderson’s exclusive focus on the venture capital industry and the venture capital fund formation team’s focus on representing fund sponsors to every engagement, which gives her a deep understanding of the market from the fund managers’ perspective. She advises both established and emerging venture capital firms, demonstrating a willingness to fight hard for her clients' best interests regardless of where they are in their business life cycle.
As someone who likes to dig into details, Olga particularly enjoys guiding first-time fund managers through the complexities of building their businesses. She takes pride in walking clients through negotiation points to explain why certain terms matter in the context of a specific fundraise or to the fund manager’s longer term business goals. And regardless of a firm’s size, her goal is always to give fund managers the knowledge and confidence to make informed business decisions and exercise leverage they may not have realized they had.
After hearing a surprising statistic about the dearth of women poker players, Olga decided to learn how to play Texas Hold ‘Em. Since learning the game through Poker Power, Olga teamed up with them to put on a poker series teaching other women in the venture capital industry how to play and strengthen their decision-making and negotiation skills.
Olga is a graduate of USC Law School and has a BA in economics from UCLA.
