Mexico-based Edtech Cometa Announces its $5M Series Seed
Gunderson Dettmer represented Mexico-based client Cometa, an administrative and financial management platform for educational institutions, in its $5 million seed financing. Cometa provides private schools in Mexico with a digital platform that streamlines collection and cash flow management, aiming to reduce delinquencies and inefficiencies. Investors included top venture capital firms in the region Kaszek, Latitud, Investo VC, Homebrew and Reach Capital.
In the announcement of the transaction, CEO of Cometa Andrés Benavides said, “We realized that technological adoption was no longer optional and although there is a lot of innovation in the educational part, few have focused on revolutionizing the administrative operation of schools. The collection, accounting, and administration teams are the oxygen behind the school, ensuring its sustainability. Cometa was born to give them superpowers, allowing greater effectiveness in the collection and administration of the school without losing control.”
The Gunderson Dettmer deal team was led by Daniel Green and Brian Willbur and included Wyatt Stillman.
