Spiral Emerges From Stealth with $22M Seed and Series A Financing
Gunderson Dettmer represented client Spiral, a data infrastructure company for managing and processing multimodal data in Python, in its emergence from stealth mode and the announcement of its $22 million Seed and Series A financing led by Amplify and General Catalyst.
Spiral is a database built on Vortex that is object store native from day one, provides unified governance across all data types, delivers machine-scale throughput that saturates GPUs and offers one API that handles everything from tiny embeddings to massive video files. The company will use the new capital to build the infrastructure that modern AI workloads demand.
In the announcement of the transaction, Spiral co-founder and CEO Will Manning said, “We're tackling how to work with complex data at machine scale. Whether you're loading data from object storage into a GPU for pre-training, doing millions of concurrent point reads for Monte Carlo tree search, or trying to wrangle data that other systems can't, we're building for you.”
