Lightmatter Announces $400M Series D and $4.4B Valuation
Gunderson Dettmer represented client Lightmatter, a leader in photonic supercomputing, in its $400 million Series D financing led by T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc. This new capital values the company at $4.4 billion and brings the total capital raised to date to $850 million. Leading the revolution in AI data center infrastructure, Lightmatter enables the next giant leap in human progress with its products including the world's first 3D-stacked photonics engine, Passage.
In the announcement of the transaction, Lightmatter co-founder and CEO Nick Harris said, “We’re not just advancing AI infrastructure—we’re reinventing it. With Passage, the world’s fastest photonic engine, we’re setting a new standard for performance and breaking through the barriers that limit AI computing. This funding accelerates our ability to scale, delivering the supercomputers of tomorrow today.”
The Gunderson Dettmer deal team was co-led by Marc Dupre and Laura Stoffel and included Gregory Kinzelman, Shu Hu, Graham Rogers, Jordana Douglas, and Chris Sundquist.
