Emma is Of Counsel in Gunderson Dettmer’s Boston office. She represents venture capital, growth equity, and other private equity firms in all aspects of their operations, including fund formation, structuring, governance, operational, and regulatory matters. Her clients range from emerging managers to established, industry-leading venture capital firms investing in a wide range of industries.

Emma loves her work with private funds sponsors, and brings high energy and deep focus to all of her engagements. Her advice is informed by her thorough market knowledge, having worked with funds through hundreds of fundraising, investment, transitional, operational, and governance situations and complexities. In addition, Emma brings her prior broad experience with corporate formation and governance matters, regulatory and disclosure matters, and various financing and transaction structures.

Emma’s practice includes:

  • Managing all aspects of fundraises, from developing a pre-fundraise strategy to drafting and negotiating all formation-related documents, and negotiating fund terms with investors
  • Advising on internal structural, economic, governance, and operational matters, and devising strategic succession plans
  • Providing investment-side support, including with respect to regulatory compliance and securities filing obligations
  • Supporting all aspects of firm operations, including personnel and advisor engagements, hirings, separations, compensation, and regulatory matters
  • Incorporating Gunderson Dettmer’s propriety, cutting-edge practice support tools

In addition, Emma is particularly focused on the future of venture capital and devotes significant time to supporting female and minority-founded investment managers develop and grow their firms.

Emma is the proud mother of three strong-willed women. She devotes her time outside of work to supporting her daughters’ hopes and dreams, volunteering for local organizations, and dabbling in sports that begin with the letter “S” (swimming, skiing, sailing, and skating).
