Sean Patrick is an associate in the Licensing, Strategic Partnering and Commercial Transactions group.
Sean Patrick specializes in corporate partnering, strategic alliances, technology protection, and licensing and commercialization of intellectual property and technology assets. This includes specific and general representation for start-up, emerging, and established companies. Sean Patrick has a passion for energy tech and represents clients across a broad range of industries. With a background in mechanical engineering, Sean Patrick combines his technical and legal knowledge to advocate for clients, identify their needs, and provide solutions in every transaction.
Sean Patrick focuses on transactional IP issues related to our clients’ every day as well as financing and M&A activities. Sean Patrick routinely negotiates SaaS, procurement, vendor, consultant, and employee agreements. Beyond continuous relationships with his clients, Sean Patrick works with both investors and companies in efficiently and thoroughly closing their financings and eventual M&A activity.
Sean Patrick is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), holding the U.S. private-sector privacy certification granted by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). Outside of Sean Patrick’s IP work, Sean Patrick has a passion for immigration law and LGBTQ+ rights, especially when the two intersect. Prior to joining Gunderson Dettmer, Sean Patrick gained experience in IP and commercial litigation and patent prosecution, creating a unique ability to understand how each key term will be interpreted and a knowledge to reach that goal for the client.
