Bob Gunderson is the founding partner of Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian, LLP, and served as Chair from founding until 2021. The firm is a 400-lawyer business law firm with eight domestic and two international offices and has been ranked globally as the number one law firm for venture capital. Bob is internationally recognized as one of the most accomplished lawyers in the fields of emerging growth companies and venture capital and he has represented parties to many of the most significant emerging growth company transactions (financings, IPOs and mergers and acquisitions) over the last three or more decades.
Bob has written and spoken extensively on various legal topics and is co-editor of Venture Capital and Public Offering Negotiation, the leading treatise in its field. Bob has served as a director of numerous public companies. He is a Fellow of the American College of Governance Counsel and the American Bar Foundation. He is admitted to practice in California and Washington.
Bob earned a JD from the University of Chicago Law School, where he was Executive Editor of The University of Chicago Law Review, as well as an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and an MA from Stanford University.
