Raffi is an associate in the Licensing, Strategic Partnering and Commercial Transactions group.
Raffi specializes in corporate partnering, strategic alliances, technology protection, and licensing and commercialization of intellectual property and technology assets.
Raffi focuses on transactional IP issues arising related to our clients’ financing and M&A activities. Raffi represents a wide variety of technology companies from consumer internet, software, telecommunications, and entertainment technology industries, as well as a number of leading venture capital firms.
Prior to joining Gunderson Dettmer, Raffi was an associate at Kirkland & Ellis where he represented public and private companies, investment institutions, and private venture capital firms on the structuring and negotiation of complex technology-related (e.g., SaaS, Healthcare, etc.) commercial transactions and acquisitions focusing on intellectual property exploitation, licensing, development, customization, data privacy protection (e.g., CCPA and GDPR), sales and marketing, supply and vendor agreements, application development, and commercialization. Prior to becoming an attorney, Raffi was a patent examiner at USPTO where he examined patents related to Computer Graphic Processing, 3D Animation, Display Color Attribute, Object Processing, Hardware, Memory, and Telecommunications. Raffi also worked as a NERC Certified Operations Engineer at California Independent System Operators (CAISO) and a Professional Trainee at Southern California Edison (SCE).
Raffi was awarded the ABA/BNA Award for Excellence in the Study of Intellectual Property Law for 2018.
Raffi is fluent in Armenian and is an active member of the Armenian Bar Association.
