James specializes in corporate partnering, strategic alliances, technology protection, and licensing and commercialization of intellectual property and technology assets.

Before joining Gunderson, James practiced at the Boston office of Fish & Richardson, where he represented high tech companies at trial and appellate levels in patent, copyright, trademark and trade secret litigations. In law school, James worked as a student attorney at the Harvard Cyberlaw Clinic at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society where he assisted start-ups and non-profits in intellectual property licensing and privacy matters and served as Executive Editor of the Harvard Journal of Law and Technology.
