Richard Chang Recognized Again in China Business Law Journal’s The A-List 2025-26: Growth Drivers
Richard Chang, Corporate Partner and Head of Gunderson Dettmer’s Beijing office, has once again been named to China Business Law Journal’s A-List as China’s 2025-26 Growth Drivers Elite International Lawyers. He is recognized in two key practice areas: Private Equity & Venture Capital, and Healthcare, Pharma & Life Sciences, highlighting his leading expertise and market influence.
In the A-List report, Stephane Berthier, CEO of SDK Therapeutics, commends Richard as “far more than legal counsel." “He has acted as a trusted strategic adviser whose expertise has directly enabled SDK Therapeutics to secure financing, protect its IP and licensing rights, and build a solid corporate platform for growth,” Berthier says. From the early days of US-based biotech firm SDK Therapeutics, Richard systematically structured the company’s framework to ensure full compliance with US legal requirements in incorporation, governance, and securities regulations. He also led the design of the financing framework, helping the company successfully complete multiple funding rounds.
Richard focuses his practice on representing emerging growth companies, and in particular life sciences and technology companies throughout their corporate lifecycle. He regularly advises clients in complex transactions, including venture capital and private equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, IPOs and other public offerings, as well as general corporate and securities matters. Richard has substantial experience in life sciences/biotech, AI, technology, media and telecommunications (TMT), fintech, web3 and blockchain sectors across the greater China and Asia-Pacific regions.
The China Business Law Journal’s annual A-List highlights the top PRC and international lawyers committed to China-related businesses. The lawyers recognized in the A-List comprise lawyers that were selected after extensive research involving more than thousands of nominations by executives and general counsels of Chinese and international companies, law firms, and organizations across the globe.
