Gunderson Dettmer Commemorates 2026 Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage (AAPI) Month

Gunderson Dettmer is proud to commemorate AAPI Heritage Month in May 2026. This year, we join the Federal Asian Pacific American Council’s national theme, “Power in Unity: Strengthening Communities Together.”
The theme highlights the strength that comes from collaborating across communities, sharing lived experiences, and uniting over common causes. It reflects how AAPI communities cultivate connection, resilience, and progress, while encouraging us to recognize leaders who bring people together and inspire future generations to lead with purpose.
“This year is also particularly special to me because my parents—alongside a thousand others—attended their oath ceremony and naturalized as U.S. citizens a month ago, 31 years after my dad first landed at LAX. I can’t help but reflect on how this was all made possible by the communities, big and small, that cultivated immense opportunities for my family to build a new life in this country, with uniquely American pathways to higher education, freedom and social mobility. I look forward to paying things forward in a small way for future generations of AAPI leaders.” – Damon Zhangchai (AAPI Affinity Group Associate Convener)
Events
In recognition of AAPI Heritage Month, we will host a series of events throughout May. Programming will include social events such as a cooking class and a community 5K run or optional 1-mile walk with a client panel discussion on “Building, Belonging, and Breaking Barriers,” which will explore the intersection of heritage and leadership in the venture ecosystem.
