Shade Raises $14 Million Financing
Gunderson Dettmer represented Shade, an AI-powered cloud storage and media management platform for creative teams, in its $14 million financing led by Khosla Ventures with participation from Construct Capital and Bling Capital. The round brings the company’s total funding to $20 million.
Shade creates one unified place for all workflows, providing a single source of truth from ingestion to rough cut to delivery to archive and all the workflows in between. This allows creatives to access, search, review, and archive all media in one platform, so they spend less time managing files and more time being creative. The new capital will be used to continue investing in Shade’s streamable file system, AI search, review platform, and its Shade 3.0 vision, including the launch of automations and custom objects.
“Our goal from the outset has been to bring together a set of investors who are forward-thinking, rigorous, and have a history of operating and investing in durable companies,” said Brandon Fan and Emerson Dove, co-founders of Shade, in the announcement of the transaction. “More importantly, to bring an investor set that knows the pain points of the customers. We believe we’ve continued to achieve that excellence with our latest round.”
The Gunderson deal team was led by Randall Clark and included Valerie Wood, Aliya Sanders, Tuca Bihari, Alex VanDerKolk, Ambreena Ladhani, and Christina Somaraju.
