Cephia Announces $4M Series Seed Led by ROE
Gunderson Dettmer represented client Cephia in its $4 million Series Seed financing led by Radiant Opto-Electronics Corporation (ROE) and co-led by Incharge Capital. MetaVC Partners, NRM Partners and SOSV also participated in the round.
Cephia plans to introduce a range of superhuman vision sensor products built from biological concepts that are capable of detecting what traditional sensors and the human eye cannot. The company will use the new capital to accelerate product development, hiring and sales growth.
In the announcement of the transaction, Cephia Founder and CEO Bo Dong said, “This funding marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of multimodal sensing. Our metamaterials-based technology is inspired by nature — drawing from creatures like mantis shrimp, dragonflies, and cephalopods, whose remarkably complex eyes allow them to perceive worlds invisible to us. Even more exciting, we can fit this capability into the palm of your hand, unlocking countless possibilities.”
The Gunderson deal team was led by Bennett Yee and included Jesse Birbach, Anjuli Schlievert, Umar Chaudhary and Lizzy Song.
