Cake Launches with $13M Seed Financing
Gunderson Dettmer represented client Cake, an open-source AI infrastructure platform, in its $13 million Seed financing led by Google’s Gradient Ventures with participation from Primary Venture Partners. Cake features a curated selection of pre-integrated and fully-managed open-source AI components for businesses of all sizes to deploy AI into production far faster and more easily than was possible before Cake.
In the announcement of the transaction, Cake CEO and cofounder Misha Herscu said, “Companies in every sector are investing in the latest technologies with an eye toward winning in their markets with AI. Unfortunately, the cutting-edge has historically been the exclusive domain of large ML engineering teams. At Cake, we’re working to ensure that businesses of any size can confidently deploy the latest technologies, within days, or even hours, and without requiring an army of engineers. Customers across financial services, healthcare, insurtech, e-commerce, and traditional SaaS already rely on Cake’s fully-managed AI infrastructure platform in production for core business use cases.”
The Gunderson Dettmer deal team was led by Hilary Adams and included Aliya Sanders, Samuel Feldman and Madeline Koo.
