Altera Announces $9M Seed Financing to Create Digital Human Beings
Gunderson Dettmer represented client Altera, an artificial intelligence company creating digital human beings, in its $9 million Seed financing led by Patron and First Spark Ventures. In partnership with game studios and designers, Altera offers agents that are designed to be companions for gamers enabling customers to experience the world through the eyes of a digital human. The company will use the new capital to hire more scientists, engineers, and team members to help with product development and growth.
In the announcement of the transaction, Altera co-founder Robert Yang said, “It has been my life goal as a neuroscientist to go all the way and build a digital human being—redefining what we thought AI was capable of. Our solidly pro-human framework means that we are building agents that will enhance humanity, not replace it.”
The Gunderson Dettmer deal team was led by Randall Clark and included Tuca Bihari and Jessica Hart.
