We look to hire the brightest and most highly motivated law students seeking a career filled with exciting and challenging work with clients involved in some of today’s most important business transactions. We commit to provide our summer associates with an experience that will begin to develop the core skills necessary to become a successful business lawyer. Our focus on, and commitment to the success of, our Summer Associate Program is demonstrated by the fact that it is consistently ranked by The American Lawyer as one of the best Summer Associate Programs in the United States.

The success of our Summer Associate Program is due in large part to the hands-on experience we provide our Summer Associates—an experience that parallels that of a first-year associate. As a summer associate, you will be staffed on transactions and perform tasks and projects similar to those that you will work on when you return as a full-time attorney. To help our summer associates learn the substantive law involved in our practice, we conduct a training program throughout the summer. In addition, to assist our summer associates in making the transition from law school to law firm life, we provide each summer associate with partner and associate mentors. We also have a work flow coordinator who ensures that our summer associates receive diverse and challenging projects. In short, when your summer ends, you will know what it is like to be a business lawyer at Gunderson Dettmer—and we are confident you will want to join our team.
